what is a guild?

A guild is a like a small community within a community. Here, they're small places (individual threads) where members of Surreal*Twilight come together to talk about their similar interests (TV shows, music genres, languages, games, etc). In the event there are no guilds that suit your particular interest(s), you're free to make one of your own! S*T guilds are completely user-based; creating new guilds is encouraged; they help you meet new people, and also give you a small sample of what running something user-based is like!

We also allow role playing guilds. If you're interested, you can join or create a role play based on a specific world, rules, and races. This can include continuity, fighting, or whatever you want.

how do i create a guild?

• First, you need to think of an appropriate, specific topic that you enjoy, that you think others also enjoy, and that hasn't yet been done.

• Second, create a single thread in the Guilds & Communities forum for it.

• Third, type up the guild information. Consider: What is it about? What must people do to join? Are there any rules? Are there any ranks or staff positions? Will you try to hold contests or activities?

• Fourth, begin to gather members. The more the merrier!

• Finally... keep it alive! If you manage to make it popular enough, you can even earn your guild its own forum.

guild rules/notes

There is no limit to the number of guilds you can join. Generally, you may only post in a guild thread if you are a member. (Exceptions: If their rules state otherwise, or if they are a guild that offers a service to S*T members).

A guild leader has the right to decline any member that applies to their guild as long as they send a private message to the user explaining why they were declined. If the member wishes to challenge the decline, they must contact a CW moderator for review. If both parties are fine with the decision, the reasoning can be posted publicly in the guild, but it is not required.

obtaining a mini-forum

Is your guild bursting at the seams with members and posts? How about trying to obtain a mini-forum? If you have fifteen or more members in your group with at least eight pages in your guild topic, you are allowed to apply for a mini-forum. You will be given your own forum in which you (and only you) will be able to moderate. Post an application in the sticky that's in the Mini-Guild forum. Alternatively, you can acquire a usergroup and sub-forum if you have redeemed 200 gold Starrs.

before you start

Guild subforums are viewable by all Graduates, but you are not allowed to post in them unless you join the group.

Before you start a guild, make sure you skim through the forum really quick to make sure your idea hasn't already been done.
